Overview

Erin has a busy practice regularly appearing in the Crown and Magistrates’ Courts, both prosecuting and defending. Her experience covers a broad range of general crime, including serious violent offences, drug offences and sexual offences. She also has experience in confiscation proceedings.

Erin accepts instructions from Local Authorities in criminal work.

Aside from general crime, Erin has represented the Home Office in the First-Tier Tribunal (Tax Chamber) in a challenge to a decision of non-restoration of goods.

Prior to commencing pupillage, Erin worked as a Clerk to a High Court Judge at the Royal Courts of justice. As part of her role, Erin accompanied the High Court Judge on Circuit, acting as the first line of support to His Lordship/Her Ladyship in a number of murder cases.

Before her role at the Royal Courts of Justice, Erin was a Legal Assistant for a King’s Counsel who specialised in criminal defence. As part of this role, she worked on trials and appeals for offences including murder, offences against the person, and sexual assault. Erin has also assisted with the drafting of applications to the Court of Appeal.

Erin read Law at University, where she received several awards for her contribution to the Kent Law Clinic for her work as a Student Caseworker.

Notable Cases

R v G and M (Reading Crown Court, 2026) – Prosecuted two defendants who pleaded guilty to nine offences of animal cruelty, failing to ensure the needs of an animal, and breach of disqualification order. The Judge commented that the Crown sentencing note was “one of the best” he had ever read.

R  v AA (Lewes Crown Court, 2025) Junior defence counsel in a multi-handed rape, false imprisonment, and child cruelty case.

R v DS (Central Criminal Court, 2025) – Instructed to represent a vulnerable defendant who had pleaded guilty to four offences involving a ‘decoy’ child, including causing/inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and attempting to meet a girl under 16 years of age following grooming. Following representations in mitigation, the defendant received a suspended sentence of two years’ imprisonment.

R v AM (Reading Crown Court, 2025) – Prosecuted a defendant accused of six offences, including controlling coercive behaviour and perverting the course of justice. The defendant was convicted of all six offences and received a sentence of three years’ imprisonment.

R V SH (Uxbridge Youth Court, 2025) – Instructed to represent a vulnerable youth defendant who had been charged with possession with intent to supply of cocaine and possession of criminal property. Following written representations focusing on the Crown’s failure to follow their own guidance on modern slavery, the case was discontinued.

R v KA (Reading Magistrates’ Court, 2025) – Instructed to represent a defendant accused of breaching his Criminal Behaviour Order. The identification by a local police officer was disputed. The defendant was acquitted.

R v DL (Southend Magistrates’ Court, 2024) – Instructed to represent a defendant accused of assault by beating x2 that was captured in its entirety on CCTV. Following cross-examination of both complainants, the defendant was acquitted of both charges.
