Paul Sharkey

Foundry Chambers is delighted to congratulate Paul Sharkey on being named The Times Lawyer of the Week.

Paul was featured for his prosecution of Rasib Ghaffar, a barrister and part-time judge, who was charged alongside others in a large-scale legal costs fraud involving claims totalling £1.8 million, of which nearly £470,000 was paid out. Mr Ghaffar was convicted in 2024 and sentenced to three years’ imprisonment. In February 2026, the Court of Appeal refused his application for leave to appeal against conviction. In October 2026, he was disbarred.

Paul specialises in serious and complex cases involving fraud, corruption, money laundering, murder and serious violence, the importation and supply of drugs, regulatory offences and confiscation proceedings.
