Overview

Calum joined Foundry Chambers as a pupil in October 2026 under the supervision of David Harounoff.

Prior to commencing pupillage, Calum worked as a paralegal at a leading criminal firm in London. He assisted his supervisor and partners in the litigation of cases, including multiple historic sexual offence matters, a human trafficking case, and a terrorism case. He also managed his own heavy caseload covering the spectrum of crime, including serious sexual offences, drugs supply offences, violence offences, and fraud. Calum has significant experience in analysing underlying telecommunications data (such as phone downloads, cell site evidence, and call data records).

Before seeking pupillage, Calum obtained an LLM with a specialism in international criminal law and international humanitarian law. He then worked as a judicial assistant (trainee) to Judge Xuereb at the Court of Justice of the European Union. Whilst there, he was involved in numerous preliminary ruling reference cases through undertaking legal research and preparing drafts of the Judge’s decisions. These cases raised novel legal issues in areas including administrative law, free movement rights, and competition law. Calum also gained cross-jurisdictional experience of crime having worked in a criminal judge’s chambers at the High Court of Delhi in India.
