Chris Harper appointed MPTS legally-qualified chair

After a rigorous selection process, Chris Harper has been appointed by the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service to sit as a legally-qualified chair. After a period of training Chris will chair tribunal panels hearing cases brought by the General Medical Council alleging that doctors’ fitness to practise is impaired. He will form part of the tribunal and give legal advice, sitting a number of weeks a year.

Chris has presented cases at the Nursing and Midwifery Council for a number of years developing knowledge and expertise in professional discipline, which he will take into his new role.

He will continue to represent the prosecution and defence in his busy criminal practice, and to accept instructions in all his practice areas.
