Defendants sentenced in youth murder case prosecuted by Patrick Dennis and Jessica Tate
Following their convictions on 28 March 2024 for the murder of Omar Khan and wounding with intent of Cheyenne Barnes, Rayis Nibeel (16 at the time, now 17) and Umer Choudhury (17 at the time, now 18) have been sentenced by Mrs Justice Foster. Rayis Nibeel was sentenced to detention at His Majesty's Pleasure with a minimum term of 20 years and Umer Choudhury was sentenced to detention at His Majesty's Pleasure with a minimum term of 18 years. Mrs Justice Foster lifted reporting restrictions in respect of Rayis Nibeel.
