Ellis Sareen, instructed by Seema Parikh of MPR Solicitors, secured an acquittal for an 18-year-old amateur boxer from Woking charged with the attempted murder of his former sparring partner. The assiduous pursuit of disclosure from the prosecution revealed social media messages from the complainant which supported the defendant's explanation for having carried a knife. Expert evidence called for the defence exposed the fragility of the prosecution's assertions about the manner in which the defendant has caused a deep wound to the complainant's neck and a further wound to his chest. Despite the late addition of a further charge of s18 wounding, the defendant was acquitted on all counts after 12 days of trial.
