Emily Lauchlan’s client acquitted of sexual assaults

Emily Lauchlan acted for a defendant accused of two counts of sexually assaulting his biological son at St Albans Crown Court. The Crown relied on Expert DNA evidence to show areas of saliva that were found on the complainant's brand new pyjama shorts in support of his claims that his father had been kissing his groin and later straddled him with his penis exposed in his face. The case involved careful pre-recorded cross-examination of the child witnesses aged 14 at the time and one with additional vulnerabilities and special educational needs.

At the conclusion of a 5 day trial, the defendant was unanimously acquitted.
