This honour represents a formal recognition of Shamini’s outstanding work in these areas and follows Lexis Nexis naming her, earlier this year, as the Winner of the Halsbury Award for Rule of Law. Her citation for that award set out:

“The winner of this year's award has had a hugely impressive impact on the Rule of Law in multiple African countries, bringing the best elements of the criminal justice system in the UK to strengthen how trials and criminal prosecutions work elsewhere. It is so important that lawyers share expertise to places beyond their own boundaries and Shamini is an exemplar of this principle.”
