Henry Gordon prosecutes dangerous arsonist sentenced to life imprisonment.
Henry Gordon prosecuted a defendant who has been sentenced to life imprisonment for arson with intent to endanger life together with multiple firearms and weapons offences.
Planning his offending over a number of days, Ian Pitkin pleaded guilty after using petrol to set fire to his flat on 20th March 2024, intentionally endangering the lives of those living around him, including young families, and causing an explosion that prompted an extensive response by the emergency services. He had intended thereafter to set fire to his landlord’s office and violently to target those of Jewish faith, including with imitation firearms and offensive weapons that he had placed in his car in preparation. Having been found to pose a significant risk of serious harm to the public, Pitkin was sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court to imprisonment for life, with a minimum custodial term of over 6 years.
