Katie Doherty, instructed by Hollingsworth Edwards Solicitors, represented JC in a 4 day trial between 16-21 February 2022. The Crown alleged that JC swung a heavy bag at an officer and kicked another officer’s handcuffs and whilst doing so, made contact with a police officer’s leg. 4 police officers gave evidence and body-worn video footage of the incident was shown to the jury. Officers were cross-examined at length to draw out factual inconsistencies with the footage. The jury unanimously acquitted JC of affray and the s.4 Public Order statutory alternative.
