Kwame Sekyere’s client, a young man who controlled a phone as part of a county lines operation, sentenced to a Suspended Sentence Order

Kwame Sekyere acted for OS who pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs between October and November 2023.

The Crown’s case was that he controlled the drug line and directed drug supply through two runners who were working for him (both pleaded guilty at separate hearings). He was arrested at a property where the police found over £9,000 in cash and drugs packaged for both wholesale and street dealing.

The Judge accepted submissions that, although there was evidence of OS playing a significant role, his naivety was taken advantage of and he was ultimately exploited by those higher up in the drug operation. OS was therefore found to play a lesser role in the offence and, because of the mitigating factors that had been raised by Kwame, a suspended sentence was imposed.

Kwame was instructed by Ali Shah of Alexander Bennett Solicitors.
