Rose has been awarded the prestigious Pegasus Trust Outgoing Scholarship to work in Uganda for three months this summer. She will be based at the Supreme Court and High Court in Kampala, under the management of the Chief Justice.

Her work will include legal research for the Judiciary, most notably the Chief Justice, to assist in determining appeals before the Supreme Court. She will also be involved in drafting proposals for law reform in Uganda, as well as the drafting and analysis of initiatives to improve the running of the Ugandan justice system. To this end, there may also be opportunities for Rose to observe courts and work on Uganda’s fledgeling legal aid system, as well as to conduct prison interviews with detainees.
