Shamini Jayanathan Shortlisted for LexisNexis Halsbury Award
Foundry Chambers is pleased to announce that our associate tenant, Shamini Jayanathan has been shortlisted for the LexisNexis Halsbury Award for Rule of Law, 2023. This is in recognition of her work in promoting British standards in the administration of criminal justice, internationally.
In particular, Shamini has effectively exported policy and standards from the Crown Prosecution Service and judiciary of England and Wales to several countries across Africa including Somalia, Botswana, Kenya, Uganda, Namibia, Tanzania and more. These include policy relating to the decision to charge, disclosure, sentencing and active case management. Her work in tackling the poaching crisis across Africa by supporting strong prosecutions and legislative reform, is also recognised. In setting up the Arcturus Network of prosecutors, she has enabled dialogue and opportunities for members of Chambers to engage with prosecutors across Africa and share experiences. We are very proud of her and we wish her the very best in the Lexisnexis award ceremony this March.
