Tom Hoskins successfully defends experienced nurse accused of multiple medication errors

Tom defended a nurse with 20 years’ experience accused of misconduct by her regulator, the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Having had a consensual panel disposal rejected, she faced a trial on allegations of not recording medication given to a critical patient and the near miss involving the administration of ten times the dose of diabetes medication across multiple days. Having heard Tom’s submissions, the Fitness to Practise Committee decided that the allegations, set in their proper context, did not amount to misconduct and ended the case against the nurse leaving her record unblemished and lifting an interim order which had been in place for almost three years. Tom was instructed by Siobhan Hamill of the Royal College of Nursing.
