Alex Radley awarded the President’s Shield for services to Ampthill Rugby Club

Alex Radley was awarded the Presidents shield for services to Ampthill Rugby Club at the end of season Awards Dinner last week.  The award is presented by the President, for outstanding service to the club. Alex has been a part of the club as a player since the eighties and has served on the committee.  He recently chaired the club for eight years during COVID and when the club were promoted to “The RFU Championship”, the second tier of English Rugby Union.  The legal demands on Clubs and Societies has grown over time and his expertise as a Barrister who has acted for Sports Stars, Clubs and Governing Bodies has proved invaluable, especially so as this has been provided for over 20 years on a Pro-Bono basis.

Alex has now handed over the Chairmanship to James Wiggett (pictured above together with Bath and England player Lee Mears) but remains the Clubs Championship representative and continues to provide Pro-Bono legal services.

Alex said,” I am honoured to have been given this award and to be an active member of the Club because it provides so much opportunity for local children and families to learn the game of Rugby and have a safe sociable environment in which to grow.”

Alex is a Barrister at Foundry Chambers specialising in Criminal, Regulatory, Professional Discipline and Sports Law.
