Patrick Dennis leading Pietro Matarazzo from the CPS prosecuted 8 defendants in a prison violence case. The defendants were alleged to have planned and executed an ambush against another inmate at HMP/YOI Cookham Wood wounding him with an improvised weapon. This was a victimless prosecution after the victim declined to provide a statement or even an account as to what had happened. Following a 16 day trial at Maidstone Crown Court, 7 of the defendants were convicted of violent disorder and 3 were convicted of wounding with intent.
