Alastair Smith secures acquittal for Heathrow baggage handler accused of 100kg conspiracy to import cocaine.

Alastair Smith has successfully secured the acquittal of a baggage handler alleged to have played a significant role in the importation of over 100kg of cocaine through Heathrow airport. The prosecution by the National Crime Agency (operation Pulex) encompassed 12 defendants and involved surveillance, billing, probe and CCTV evidence over a 12 month period . Alastair was acting for the first defendant over the course of the 3 month trial at Southwark Crown Court. At the conclusion of the trial 10 defendants were convicted at trial or following plea.
