Overview

Sophie joined Foundry Chambers as a pupil in October 2025, under the supervision of David Smith, James Partridge, and Warwick Tatford.

Before commencing pupillage, Sophie worked as a Criminal Justice Policy Researcher at a Westminster think tank, leading work on prison reform with a focus on the needs of prisoners’ children and families. Her findings were presented to MPs, academics, and leaders across the criminal justice sector.
Prior to this, Sophie led the launch of a suicide prevention and bereavement charity. She has also volunteered supporting older people facing loneliness.

Sophie studied Geography at the University of Cambridge, graduating with First Class Honours, before converting to law. She completed both the Postgraduate Diploma in Law and the Bar Training Course with Distinction. She was awarded a David Karmel Scholarship (2022) and a Bar Course and Residential Scholarship (2023) by Gray’s Inn.
