Mark Seymour secures £¾m Confiscation Orders in Coloured Diamonds Boiler Room Fraud.
At Southwark Crown Court this week at the conclusion of lengthy Confiscation Proceedings Mark Seymour secured a substantial £¾m Confiscation Order against a Defendant who he had previously successfully prosecuted for fraud at a trial in 2018.
At the original trial at Southwark Crown Court, mark successfully secured the conviction of 2x Defendants of Conspiracy to Defraud and Money Laundering. Following the earlier guilty plea of another man, the 3x Defendants were between them sentenced to a total of 14 years’ imprisonment.
The case related to a alternative coloured diamond investment business Boiler Room fraud. For a total period of c.18m a Boiler Room was setup from rented City premises with prestige accommodation address facilities at the Stock Exchange building, along with glossy colour brochures and a website. The Victims were unsuspecting, often vulnerable but wealthy members of the public. The coloured diamonds either did not exist, or in the case of the single diamond that was ever actually supplied was of only nominal value. The most vulnerable of the investors were subjected to additional pressure and deception to encourage further fraudulent investment, and were effectively “milked”.
