William Hughes KC Prosecutes Slough Hindu Temple County Lines Murder
William Hughes KC, leading Nicholas Hearn of Furnival Chambers, successfully prosecuted Riaz Miah and Hassan Al-Kubanji who were convicted of for the murder of Rafaqit Kayani at Reading Crown Court before HHJ Norton and a jury. Another defendant, Miguel John, was convicted of assisting an offender.
The Prosecution case was that the first two defendants were operating a County Lines drug business, travelling from London to Slough in order to do so. The killing of the deceased, which took place in broad daylight in the grounds of the Hindu Temple, Slough appeared to directly relate to the Defendants’ drugs business. The third defendant assisted by disposing of the weapons – machetes – used in the killing. Sentence has been adjourned to early April 2023.
