William Hughes QC commences trial of South Wales Police Officer in false ‘Crimestoppers’ prosecution
William Hughes QC opened the Prosecution case against a South Wales Police officer, Abubakar Masum, for two offences of perverting the course of justice and one of securing unauthorised access to computer material. The Prosecution allege Mr Masum made false and untruthful reports to 'Crimestoppers' anonymously in respect of a former female acquaintance and her associates. The trial before HHJ Fitton QC and a jury at Cardiff Crown Court, is expected to last three weeks.
